Elon Musk has announced that all tweets displayed in the ‘For You’ page (the main tab of the app) as of April 15 would only be from paying, Twitter Blue verified accounts because Twitter Blue adoption has fallen short of expectations.
Twitter Blue Verified Accounts
Twitter will stop allowing legacy blue checkmarks, making voting in Twitter polls unavailable to non-paying accounts and reducing their overall functionality. This will reduce exposure, which may encourage more accounts to subscribe and increase Twitter’s subscription income.
Spammers and fraudsters are unlikely to pay $8 per account to run their scams, this may help reduce the prevalence of bots and spam in the app. Currently, 0.18 percent of all Twitter users are also subscribed to Twitter Blue.
