As professional marketers ourselves, my colleague and I understand that it can be challenging to keep up with the latest industry developments, particularly in a field like marketing that is continuously evolving. While pursuing our M.Sc. in Marketing at King’s College London, we were tasked with a demanding group project that required us to stay on top of the latest marketing trends. However, with so many news sources available, it quickly became overwhelming.
One day, after spending hours combing through articles and reports, we both had a eureka moment. We realized that marketers needed a new type of news source, one that was focused on delivering only the most pertinent information in a format that could be easily digested in under two minutes.
After graduation, we put our plan into action. We surveyed a diverse group of professionals, including Marketing Interns, Social Media Managers, Marketing Managers, Growth Marketers, Ad Operation Managers, Marketing Executives, and CMOs. We conducted extensive research to ensure that VeryBriefly’s content would meet the needs of marketers at all levels.
Our research showed that short-form copy is crucial to marketers, particularly to mobile users who typically account for 54% of website visits. We found that 95% of the marketers we surveyed agreed that they preferred shorter content formats.
Additionally, we discovered that the average page view contained 593 words. This means that users will have time to read only 28% of the words if they devote all of their time to reading. More realistically, users will read about 20% of the text on the average page.
These findings were critical in shaping our approach to content creation at VeryBriefly. We remain dedicated to delivering only the most relevant and easily digestible content, helping busy professionals stay informed and empowered to make the best decisions for their businesses.
