YouTube is testing a shopping experience in YouTube Shorts and affiliate marketing program is coming in 2023.
YouTube Shorts
YouTube is expanding its platform for short-form videos with new purchasing options. YouTube Shorts would let users make purchases as they scroll through their feeds, adopting a format closer to that of social media rivals TikTok and Instagram.
The initiative is anticipated to start sometime in the next year for users in the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and India. Once it does, YouTubers will receive a 45% share of ad revenue. The programme will eventually be expanded to additional nations, according to YouTube.
Following the release of shoppable advertisements in 2020 and the start of livestream shopping in 2021, this is the most recent step taken by YouTube to establish itself as an ecommerce destination.
YouTube plans to create an affiliate marketing solution to pay selected content creators a commission on sales produced by product advertising in addition to the new shopping options.
