Hyundai Motor Company and Amazon have announced a significant partnership, set to redefine the automotive customer experience.
This collaboration, unveiled at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, encompasses the launch of Hyundai vehicle sales on Amazon, the selection of Amazon Web Services (AWS) as Hyundai’s preferred cloud provider, and the integration of Alexa into Hyundai’s future vehicles.
Starting in 2024, Hyundai will become the first automobile brand available for purchase on Amazon in the U.S. This pioneering move into digital vehicle sales is designed to streamline the car buying process, offering customers the convenience of online shopping coupled with local dealership service.
Shoppers will be able to search for Hyundai vehicles on Amazon by preferences such as model, color, and features, complete the purchase online, and choose either dealership pickup or delivery.
In its digital transformation journey, Hyundai has chosen AWS as its primary cloud provider. This strategic move involves migrating Hyundai’s on-premises applications to AWS, encompassing diverse areas from research and product engineering to customer engagement.

The focus will be on optimizing manufacturing and supply chains, enhancing security and disaster recovery, and advancing connected vehicle development. A key element of this transformation is the Master Builder training program, developed jointly by AWS and Hyundai, to equip Hyundai engineers with essential cloud skills.

Beginning in 2025, Hyundai’s next-generation vehicles will feature the Alexa Built-in experience, mirroring the hands-free, voice-activated convenience Alexa users enjoy at home. Hyundai drivers will be able to access a range of functions, from entertainment to smart home control, directly from their vehicles.
The integration will include features like traffic updates, weather reports, and in-vehicle media and navigation control, with certain Alexa capabilities available even in limited or no internet connectivity scenarios.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in the automotive industry, blending Amazon’s digital prowess with Hyundai’s automotive innovation, promising a future where technology and convenience drive the customer experience to new heights.
