The House Foreign Affairs Committee approved a bill that might allow President Joe Biden the authority to prohibit TikTok.
Danger Awaits TikTok
ByteDance, a private Chinese firm owned by the Chinese government, is the only owner of TikTok. A number of state governments have followed federal policy and banned the software from government-issued devices.
TikTok’s U.S. operations are handled by TikTok Inc., a company incorporated in and subject to the laws of the United States, contrary to what the Chinese government has claimed.
Government agencies, however, are concerned that Chinese authorities may gain access to this information regardless of ByteDance’s intentions.
