LinkedIn has announced an extension of its identity verification services to additional regions worldwide. This expansion, made possible through a new partnership with Persona, aims to reinforce the platform’s commitment to authenticity and trust among its global user base.
At the heart of LinkedIn’s verification feature is the creation of meaningful, authentic interactions. The presence of a verification badge on user profiles indicates confirmed personal information, providing a layer of authenticity crucial for professional networking.
This feature is instrumental in cultivating a trusted community on LinkedIn, allowing users to make more informed decisions when engaging with other professionals.
The platform offers identity verification services that cater to a diverse range of users across the globe. For members in countries like the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. LinkedIn requires a valid government-issued ID for verification. Some regions also necessitate an NFC-enabled government passport.
In addition to identity verification, LinkedIn provides workplace verification options. This includes verification through Microsoft Entra Verified ID for selected companies, and for others, LinkedIn Learning License and work email verification are available. Educational institution verification is also offered on the platform, where users can verify their status through their education email or LinkedIn Learning License.
For identity verification, LinkedIn members upload a government ID or take a live selfie, which is handled by trusted partners responsible for the data’s confidentiality and deletion as per their privacy policies. LinkedIn emphasizes that it does not receive any biometric data from these partners.
With the continuous expansion of eligibility and availability, LinkedIn paves the way for more comprehensive and diverse verification methods, enhancing the overall user experience on the platform.
LinkedIn’s initiative to expand its ID verification service globally is a significant move in promoting a secure and trustworthy environment for professional networking. This development not only enhances user security but also reinforces LinkedIn’s position as a leader in fostering authentic professional connections in the digital realm.
