Earlier this week, De Tijd (well-known Belgian newspaper) reported Meta, had bought the Dutch and Belgian company Luxexcel (amount not disclosed). On Wednesday, Meta officially acknowledged the acquisition.
Meta New Lenses
Luxexcel is an industry leader in the 3D printing technology utilized for elaborate lens designs in eyeglasses. As a group, we couldn’t be happier to welcome the former Luxexcel employees to the Meta family. Meta argued that this strengthened the relationship between the two corporations.
The company is pioneering AR technology in the optics industry by integrating digital and metaverse technologies into the lenses themselves.
It has been speculated that Luxexcel and Meta worked together in the past by developing a specialized lenses for use in Project Aria, Meta’s initiative to make everyday spectacles equipped with integrated augmented reality technology.
