According to a story in The Wall Street Journal, Elon Musk has launched a new AI-focused company under the name X.AI.

Musk reportedly bought hundreds of GPUs to power an AI product and approached investors from SpaceX and Tesla for finance. Branding-wise, the X.AI moniker lines up with the X Corp. moniker he’s since given Twitter.
Musk has been vocal in his opposition to OpenAI and recently signed a letter urging a halt to “giant AI experiments.”
