To draw top talent and promote innovation in AGI development and policy, OpenAI is growing its London office. DeepMind, Google’s main AI research group, and a wealth of data science talent are both based in the city. With over 1,300 AI firms situated in the city and being the best-funded in the UK, London is also becoming a flourishing hub for startup enterprises in the field.
Altman has called for balanced regulation and the EU’s AI Act, while OpenAI is attempting to persuade the U.K.’s legislative authorities to regulate AI with a light hand.
