In a groundbreaking move, Siemens and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have joined forces to democratize generative artificial intelligence (AI) in software development. This partnership is set to revolutionize how businesses across various industries, including engineering, manufacturing, logistics, insurance, and banking, develop and enhance applications using cutting-edge generative AI technology.

Central to this collaboration is the integration of Amazon Bedrock, a service offering high-performance foundational models from leading AI companies, into Siemens’ Mendix platform. Mendix, a component of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, is renowned for its low-code approach, making application development accessible to a wider range of professionals.

Roland Busch, CEO at Siemens said “By integrating Amazon Bedrock into our low-code platform, we are democratizing generative AI technology and empowering everyone to create the applications customers need to become more competitive, resilient, and sustainable. Making smarter applications without programming expertise accelerates innovation and helps companies to tackle skilled labor shortages.”.

The fusion of Amazon Bedrock and Mendix presents a transformative solution for users. It simplifies the process of selecting and integrating the most suitable generative AI model for specific use cases. This streamlined approach removes the complexities previously faced by developers, such as acquiring access credentials and writing specialized code. Now, with just a few clicks, teams can integrate generative AI models into their applications, bypassing the need for extensive programming knowledge.

This innovation is a significant leap forward, especially in enhancing productivity within various sectors. For example, a factory worker can swiftly access machine documentation and generate relevant visualizations without manually searching databases. Similarly, production engineers can utilize AI to suggest machine adjustments or maintenance strategies, boosting factory productivity. This integration ensures that customers can leverage their company’s data with utmost security and privacy, maintaining complete control.
