Late on Friday, Twitter revealed a new policy that will disable 2FA (two-factor authentication) by text message for users who refuse to pay for the service.
2FA Deadline
A dumb security choice was made when Twitter decided that only Twitter Blue subscribers may utilize text message-based two-factor authentication.
This policy does nothing to encourage users to switch to a more secure form of 2FA.
If you want to use app-based 2FA to protect your Twitter account, you need to do so before March 20.
This method is both more secure and quicker than sending a text message.
