Elon Musk’s idea to revamp Twitter, dubbed “Twitter 2.0,” includes a feature that allows users to upload videos and write longer postings from within Twitter app.
Twitter Long Form Content
Musk has stated on multiple occasions that he wants to implement a similar functionalities to YouTube, allowing users to post lengthier video, so that users don’t leave the app to watch videos on YouTube which eventually helps creators making money by monetizing their content. Musk has also promised followers that tweets will be expanded and can be up to 4,000 characters long very soon.
Therefore, how would that function? You can’t just suddenly make walls of text predominate in the tweet feed, right away. Twitter was built on the principle of short-form communication, so they want to stay true to the original nature of the app.
Twitter designer Andrea Conway has provided some mockups of how longer tweets would look in the feed and how the process might work if/when adopted.
