Google Settlement
Both federal and state attorneys general have investigated Google for possible violations of antitrust and consumer protection laws. The government has initiated not one but two antitrust lawsuits.
In a statement Ken Paxton said “If Google is going to advertise in Texas, their statements better be true. In this case, the company made statements that were blatantly false, and our settlement holds Google accountable for lying to Texans for financial gain.”.
Google issued a statement emphasizing its commitment to abiding by all applicable advertising regulations. Spokesperson Jose Castaneda added, “We are pleased to resolve this issue.” as reported by Reuters.
