Google is now offering its new generative AI tools to more people through the Search Labs early access program. This means that these tools will be available to a larger audience.
Google Generative AI
Although OpenAI’s tools were gaining popularity, Google was initially hesitant to enter the generative AI space out of concern that inaccurate results could proliferate. OpenAI’s partnership with Microsoft has made Google consider adding more features to Search and ads. However, Google is being careful about integrating these features.
Google said in their blog “Once you’re in, the new generative AI powered Search experience will help you take some of the work out of searching, so you can understand a topic faster, uncover new viewpoints and insights and get things done more easily. So instead of asking a series of questions and piecing together that information yourself, Search now can do some of that heavy lifting for you.”.
Like ChatGPT, it gives you a broad view of a subject rather than just the results of a search. Generative AI will not replace traditional search, but it will offer extra suggestions and guidance throughout the process. Google intends to integrate these features into its regular search engine results page (SERP).
