Google has updated its desktop search results to include favicons and site names, making it easier for users to recognize and click on relevant advertising and organic results.
New Desktop Search
To aid consumers in rapidly recognizing websites in search results and advertisements, Google is extending the revised appearance of mobile search results to desktops.
Google’s desktop search results will soon feature a new style that incorporates favicons and site names, similar to the one introduced in October for mobile search.
To further improve their visibility, Google will also modify the size and shape of favicons displayed in search results.
Advertisement’ disclosure information will now be presented on a separate line in the upper left corner of the ad, and “Sponsored” will display in large, black type on mobile ads.
