The lawsuit concerns Glupteba, a Russian organization that had infiltrated millions of Windows devices via bot exploits.
The Glupteba system installed proxy components that would target Windows PCs and Internet of Things devices, mined bitcoins on infected machines, and stole user passwords. Most of the time, malware was spread via dubious download links for illegally obtained software.
