Elon Musk, owner of Twitter, announced that the source code dictating how Twitter promotes tweets will be completely released to the public in the upcoming weeks, after portions have already been made public.

Users and developers will have insight into the algorithm’s inner code and be able to provide feedback by learning about how the code works.
In a blog post, Twitter said that it has published the code on GitHub in two separate projects. Twitter’s recommendation algorithm, which decides which tweets are shown to whom, is among the source code sections included.
Elon Musk pushed for the change after concluding that making the code public would increase consumer trust and expedite development. It also calms both users and policymakers concerned about social media’s increased scrutiny regarding algorithms curating feeds.
Twitter has stated that its advertising algorithm code is not included in the GitHub sources.
