Wayfair, one of the world’s largest online retailers for home goods, has unveiled Decorify, a new feature that uses generative AI to help shoppers visualize different styles in their own homes. By uploading a photo of their room, customers can use Decorify to reimagine their space in various styles, such as bohemian, mid-century modern, or industrial.
The generative AI model used in Decorify creates shoppable, photorealistic images. This allows customers to not only imagine their room in a new style, but also directly purchase the featured products from Wayfair’s extensive catalog.
Fiona Tan, Wayfair’s Chief Technology Officer, emphasized that any technological development, including generative AI, must align with Wayfair’s mission to help customers create their ideal home environment. Decorify was developed with this perspective, prioritizing customer delight. She said: “Anything we develop or deploy for our customers, including GenAI, must support our mission to help everyone, anywhere create their feeling of home. Viewing generative AI through this pragmatic lens enables us to prioritize where and when we deploy development resources and ensure applications like Decorify delight our customers.”.
