YouTube is trying to find a solution for decreasing ad revenue by testing methods to bypass ad blockers. This is aimed at encouraging more people to use their Premium service.
YouTube Blocks Ad Blockers
A user on Reddit was stopped from watching a paid video on YouTube and saw a notification that said, “You can’t use ad blockers on YouTube.” This was the first time the experiment was brought to anyone’s attention.
Last year, Google discontinued the third-party program called YouTube Vanced. This program is used to block embedded advertisements for non-YouTube Premium members.
It will be interesting to observe the outcome of this experiment on ad-blockers, especially considering how YouTube’s ad revenue is decreasing and competition is increasing.
