The leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) nations issued a request for the creation and acceptance of international technical standards for reliable AI.
G7 Wants To Regulate AI
The G7 leaders in Hiroshima agreed that the governance of the digital economy should be aligned with democratic values, even though their opinions on trustworthy AI may differ.
The European Union, who has a considerable presence at the G7, recently reached an agreement and edged closer towards setting what could be the world’s first all-inclusive AI regulation. This could be a significant step towards regulating AI and could potentially pave the way for other countries to follow suit.
“We want AI systems to be accurate, reliable, safe, and non-discriminatory, regardless of their origin,” said Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission.
The ChatGPT app has made people interested in generative AI, and the G7 leaders have recognized the importance of studying the advantages and difficulties of generative AI.
