Meta announced that it is launching a commercial version of its open-source AI model called Llama 2. This will provide start-ups and other businesses with a free and powerful alternative to the expensive proprietary models offered by OpenAI and Google.
Llama 2 Is Now Available To Everyone
In a blog post, Meta announced that the latest model, Llama 2, will be available through Microsoft’s Azure cloud service, operating on the Windows operating system. They referred to Microsoft as their “preferred partner” for the release.
Meta previously offered the model exclusively to a few academics for research purposes. However, according to a blog post and a separate Facebook post by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, the model will now be accessible to everyone through direct download and various providers such as AWS and Hugging Face.
