WhatsApp has broadened the reach of its Channels feature, extending it to seven additional countries: Egypt, Chile, Malaysia, Morocco, Ukraine, Kenya, and Peru. This feature expansion was announced via a tweet.
Introduced a month prior in Singapore and Colombia, the Channels feature is designed to facilitate information sharing from NGOs, local authorities, medical research institutions, and fact-checking bodies. By extending this tool to seven more nations, WhatsApp continues to fulfill its promise of making this feature globally accessible within the year.
The Channels function enables one-way communication from administrators to channel members through the sharing of text, photos, and videos. Accessible under a new ‘Updates‘ tab, Channels allows users to connect with and follow both global and local organizations, enhancing their reach and information dissemination capabilities.
