Can you tell us a little bit about your background and how you got started in your field?
Hi, my name is Laura Bernhard. I am the founder of Marketing Bound where we help million-dollar businesses get attention from social media. I actually went to school for marketing. With internships, jobs, and my business, I’ve been in marketing for about a decade.
What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your career, and how did you overcome them?
It was really tough to get hired to do marketing and then get questioned for every single idea/decision I made. I didn’t know that most people don’t actually understand marketing and that you need to explain WHY you are doing something specific. It helped me think through all my ideas but at the time I thought it was so annoying.
What are some of the most important lessons you’ve learned throughout your career, and how have they influenced your approach to leadership?
Working in corporate gives you a really good idea of what NOT to do in a leadership role. For example, why do businesses refuse to give their employees a raise? The employee ends up leaving and the businesses end up spending MORE than just giving that person a raise. In the end, I learned that businesses are nothing without employees so treat them well.
One thing that people don’t know about you and not listed on your LinkedIn profile?
I am currently working on a secret tool that helps creators and agencies with LinkedIn content.
What advice would you give to young professionals or entrepreneurs who are just starting out in your field?
The one piece of advice I would give young entrepreneurs is to just get started. Take action. And don’t be scared of “making money.” I learned that making money is a skill and anyone can learn how to do it.
A heartfelt thank you to Laura Bernhard, the founder of Marketing Bound, for sharing her remarkable journey and invaluable insights with us. Laura’s decade-long experience in marketing, along with her candid reflections on leadership, offers a wealth of inspiration.
Her secret project for creators and agencies in the realm of LinkedIn content is a testament to her commitment to innovation. Laura’s advice to budding professionals and entrepreneurs resonates deeply: Take action, fear not the pursuit of success, and remember that making money is a skill that can be learned.
Laura, your story is a beacon of motivation, and we’re grateful for the wisdom you’ve imparted.
