TikTok owner ByteDance is actively expanding its footprint in the United States, with its Instagram-like Lemon8 app currently rising to the top of the App Store charts, even as US senators debate whether to ban its primary app.
ByteDance’s Efforts To Expand
Young artists have embraced the content-sharing platform Lemon8 in droves. Since the year 2020, it has been widely distributed over Asia. It has recently broken into the top 10 most downloaded apps in the United States.
In an effort to expand Lemon8, ByteDance is financially incentivizing creators to do so. Creators have contributed to this marketing effort by spreading the word about the app and encouraging others to download TikTok.
