Introducing Lilian Santini, a visionary in the world of brand identity and storytelling. With a background that weaves together languages, cultures, and a deep passion for design, Lilian’s journey is nothing short of inspiring.
Her brand, The Copper Portico, serves as a testament to her dedication to bringing her clients’ dreams to life through authentic and meaningful branding. Lilian is a creative powerhouse and the author of the inspirational book “Behold: Life Beyond Grief,” which can be found on Amazon.
Can you tell us a little bit about your background and how you got started in your field?
I’m originally from a small town in Brazil, and I’ve always had a love for languages and other cultures. Learning English opened doors for me, and in 2004, I found myself in New York City studying international marketing during a cultural exchange program. I discovered my passion for design and strategy. Fast forward to 2015, I moved to Miami and started The Copper Portico, a venture that blended my love for branding and design. It’s all about bringing my clients’ visions to life, and creating a physical representation of what they dream for their brands.
What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your career, and how did you overcome them?
Life hasn’t always been smooth sailing. I faced some tough times when transitioning from Brazil into the US, and again when leaving corporate America to become an entrepreneur. Those were challenging times, but they helped me gain clarity about what I really wanted and channel my feelings into creativity. This shift was a real game-changer for me.
What are some of the most important lessons you’ve learned throughout your career, and how have they influenced your approach to leadership?
Over the years, I’ve learned the value of staying true to who I am and what I believe in. Leading The Copper Portico has taught me the importance of building genuine relationships with clients and partners, and making sure they see themselves in the brand we create together. It’s all about a shared journey, working hand in hand to build something meaningful.
One thing that people don’t know about you?
A fact about me that many don’t know – I love knitting. It’s a meditation practice to me – once I start moving those needles, I’m transported to a different dimension, and oftentimes have great ideas that I get to put into practice once I’m done knitting that scarf!
What advice would you give to young professionals or entrepreneurs who are just starting out in your field?
For those just starting out, my advice is to dig deep and understand the core of what you’re creating. It’s not just about being reactive and taking any work that lands on your lap – get experience working on projects that bring you joy!
Surround yourself with a supportive community, learn from both successes and setbacks and never lose sight of why you started in the first place. And remember, the journey itself is the reward, so cherish every step along the way.
