Shou Zi Chew, TikTok’s chief executive, has agreed to testify before a congressional panel committee in March to address legislators concerns about data collection.
TikTok May Face A Ban In The US
A representative from the committee has confirmed that TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew will testify before the committee on March 23. Mr. Chew is a Harvard graduate that worked with Meta at some point in his career and has voluntary accepted to testify in the congress.
Legislators, especially the Republicans who just took a narrow majority in the House, will get a chance at this meeting to investigate a number of growing concerns.
Some lawmakers are concerned that the video sharing app could be used to spread propaganda or manipulate users in the United States, and there is a possibility that user data will be shared with China.
TikTok has faced scrutiny with the US Government and broke promises of hiring security consultants before.
