According to WSJ, Meta is planned to allow European users to opt out of ads in an effort to mitigate the effects of a European Union privacy rule.
Unsubscribe From Ads
Users in the European Union will soon be able to opt into a version of Meta’s services that limits ad targeting to demographic information such as age and location rather than more specific information gleaned from their use of Meta’s platforms.
Platform’s users who don’t want Meta to track their in-app activities for advertising purposes can fill out a form online stating their objection, and the business will consider each user’s concerns before making the change, the sources added. That may mitigate the transformation’s impact on Meta’s advertising revenue, but it may not be enough to appease all regulators and privacy advocates.
